Traffic Circles, Medians & Chicanes

The PVNA Traffic Circle team was formed early 2021 by the PVNA Board with board and community members. The committee's goal is to evaluate the traffic circles' safety features, visibility, water harvesting potential, native landscaping, and overall look and design.

The Traffic Circle Team received a grant from Tucson Clean and Beautiful GSI (Green Stormwater Infrastructure) late 2021 for the traffic circle Camilla/Fairmount. Recently we have been working with Tucson Ward 6 (Steve K) to redesign the original plan to include more traffic calming along Camilla. This includes chicanes with landscaping. There will be additional funds from the City to help with this project plus the PVNA neighborhood will be involved financially and with volunteer help. Plans and details are in process.

Chicanes Purpose: To collect and infiltrate stormwater flowing along street curbs, calm traffic, and provide shade for pedestrian pathways. Also called bump-outs or curb extensions.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We have work days ___ month at the traffic circles with your neighbors and traffic circle stewards.
Do you have any special skills that you would like to contribute? landscaping, rock work, metal work, etc?
