From 2018 to 2025, a group of representatives from the 7 neighborhoods in the Grant/Alvernon Area met to update the 1999 Grant/Alvernon Area Plan. The Committee’s purpose was to empower residents to influence development, rather than an outside force who may not know how that community works, putting the power in the residents who know and love that area best.

On August 6, 2025 Mayor and Council approved the Grant/Alvernon Area Plan. Palo Verde residents Vicki France and Ronni Kotwica led the 8 year process. They were joined by residents Candi Filipek and Steve Poe. Along with a core group of people from the 7 Neighborhoods, the plan was written. It is a very detailed and informative document, expressing the goals for development, housing, stormwater management and environmental issues in our area. It also contains information on important community assets in the area and a fascinating history of the Grant/Alvernon Area. To read the Plan, click on the cover image below.
