Join the PVNA Board of Directors

Help shape the work of the PVNA board and the future of Palo Verde neighborhood.

General commitments of all board members:

  • Attend and participate in the monthly board meeting, currently scheduled for the third Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 PM

  • Familiarize yourself with City and County ordinances and regulations

  • Let neighbors know about PVNA and neighborhood resources

  • Be present or volunteer at PVNA events

  • Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Be an expert on TPDs Neighborhood Watch program

    • Organize resources and learning opportunities to create a safer neighborhood

  • Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Work with a co-chair to oversee the Events & Program committee which will organize and facilitate PVNA events

    • Signature events include:

      • New Year’s Party in the Park (January)

      • Plant Swap (March)

      • Art in the Garden (April)

      • Fourth of July Parade (July)

      • Annual Meeting (October)

  • Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Oversee the maintenance of PVN streets and parks

    • Organize cleanup events

    • Oversee the Adopt a Park/Street program within PVN

  • Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Partake in board discussions, votes, and decision-making

    • Sit on a committee of your choosing

  • Assist the President

    • Develop a long-range strategic plan and annual budget.

    • Train and support the Board and Committee members

    • Collaborate with the President on their agenda and activities for PVNA.

    • Co-facilitate Board Meetings.

    • Functions as President in their absence.

    Manage committees

    • Initiate and manage two community projects to advance the vision of PVNA. Work closely with the events coordinator, communications team and fundraising to develop the annual goals, project management plans and necessary tools for all events and initiatives.

    • Plan, develop and enforce policies and objectives for the PVNA to ensure it maintains its values and meets established goals.

    • Determine resources necessary and work with the Treasurer to ensure these items are included in the annual budget.

    Engage with the community

    • Create public awareness initiatives and ensures PVNA is visible to the community and City of Tucson

    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit opportunities to advance PVNA and the neighborhood.

    • Engage in community and maintain positive relationships with other neighborhood associations, City of Tucson agencies, and PVN businesses.

    • Be accessible to the quadrant:

      • Check PVNA quadrant representative email at least twice weekly 

      • Attend neighborhood events

      • Share your contact information though the PVNA Web Page, PVNA Facebook Group, the PVNA Newsletter and other methods

    • Help maintain a quality neighborhood: 

      • Understand city expectations of Neat Neighbors (see links and shortcuts in PVN Newsletter)

      • Working with the NPC and City Liaison to understand the Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance and how to apply it within the quadrant.

      • Learn how to use city reporting resources i.e. SeeClickFix, Reporting graffiti, Street & Traffic Concerns, Abandoned shopping carts, etc. (See links and shortcuts in PVNA Newsletter)

      • Perform monthly walk-through of quadrant and report items to city as needed

      • Educate neighbors in quadrant as to the resources available and enlist them to help

    • Promote neighborhood safety working with the Safety Chair to invigorate block watch:

      • Recruit or become block watch captain for the block you reside in

      • Working with the Safety Chair recruit block captains to start or re-energize neighborhood watch block groups 

      • Attend annual block watch event with Safety Chair and block watch captains

    Co-Representative is a non voting member of the Board to support and share responsibilities of the Quadrant Representative working together for common goals.
